Mark Your Calendar! Rosemont Idol is Friday, February 17th!
Rosemont Idol is right around the corner. This event has evolved over the years from a short activity on Arts in Action night to a large, student-run fundraiser. Rosemont Idol helps to secure funds for music supplies in all music areas as well as to help students earn money toward the 8th Grade Band and Nuance overnight trip to Seattle in June.
While there are other Idols that take place in the district, Rosemont has its own set of guidelines that help us to maintain our schools’ ideals.
· We have limited space for performers. Students audition to keep the number of performers at a manageable number.
· Entry is free for any student asked to be a part of the performance.
· As a general rule, the winner of the previous year cannot perform in the subsequent year to keep it fair for all performers from year to year. They generally come back and do a repeat of the song they won with the previous year.
· Each audience member receives one vote for the night.
The event is a work in progress and every year we add something more to the production to make it just that little more special. Student-run means just that. The students work hard to make it as professional as they can for a middle school student-run event. Many students find such joy in working the event that they donate their earned money to other students who need it more than they do. This may be the best and most fulfilling part of the whole experience for them.
Please come and support us on Friday, February 17th at 7 p.m. for this year’s Rosemont Idol!
